Mission and Goals of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Cure leukemia, Lymphoma and its related cancers--multiple
myeloma, and hodgkin's disease--and improve the quality
of life of patients and their families. Significantly
accelerate cures for leukemia and related cancers by the
year 2000. Be the recognized leader in the fight againts
leukemia and related cancers.
Who Gets Leukemia?
Anyone. Most cases affect older adults.
Among children ages 1-14, leukemia causes more deaths in
the US than any other disease. Ten times as many adults
as children are stricken with leukemia and more than half
of all cases occur in persons over 60.
The cause of leukemia is not known.

Program, "Team in Training".
A personalized training program for novice and experienced
runners, walkers and cyclists who raise a minimum donation
for the Society. Seasoned coaches tailor training to
match individual goals and abilities. Nutritional advice,
event strategies, injury prevention, and equipment
information. Transportation and accomodations for event
weekend. And Team in Training premiums.
Be among the 12,000 walkers and runners and 2,500 cyclists
who participate in one of the 26 accredited marathons and
8 accredited century's nationally and abroad this year.
